A Helping Hand

I know I can always count on Ty for a helping hand around here, but this one caught me by surprise.  He noticed that after holding our dog on my lap I had some dog hair left behind.  He went into the coat closet and came out with the lint roller.  He wanted to get every piece of Ginger's hair off of me.  So I let him...after I got the camera out of course.
No smiles here...he's working.

I think he may have actually gotten every little piece off of me.  He is very thorough and serious!

Gotta' love weekends

First off, I have to say Mondays come around WAY too soon!  I can't believe how quickly our precious weekend family time is over.  It doesn't matter whether we are doing something or nothing at all...we love our weekends and we love our sleep.

This weekend was a bit of a bust I will admit.  Jeremy was on his deathbed with a crazy, horrible cold.  It was rainy and soggy outside.  I topped it off with an "almost" migraine.  Wonderful right?

Thankfully, our resilient boys however, had a blast wrestling, snuggling, and taking out every single toy they could get their little hands on.  They got along great which makes for a happy mommy.
They also came up with a new ritual for weekend mornings.  They always wake up "freezing".  A bit of an exaggeration, I know, but here is their solution to their problem.  I thought it was adorable...
They are even sharing the same pillow pet.  How cute is that?

Sweetness

Imagine my surprise when I walked down stairs to find my boys snuggling up with each other and watching a show.  I don't think this has EVER happened.
They of course love each other, but that goes with out saying.  They sit next to each other, however they definitely prefer their own personal space.  Typically if it is invaded, there is a problem.  A BIG one! I am just glad I had my camera handy to capture this rare but sweet moment.
It may be a first and a last...

Proud Mama

I just had to give a quick shout out to Aaron.  He received an award at school for his outstanding growth in reading.  Yay!  I could not be prouder of him.

It is so amazing to see the growth he has gone through this year.  He is gaining so much confidence in his academic skills.  He is surprising us everyday with new vocabulary.  He can read just about anything these days.  He loves to write and illustrate his own books and stories.  It is so wonderful to see him growing up and using his little creative mind.

Way to go Aaron!

Embrace the Camera: March 17th 2011

Man, I can't believe what a slacker I have been lately on my blog!  I haven't "embraced" in a whole month!  Yikes! OK, enough with the Mom guilt...on with the show.

Lately we have been trying to stay sane in the house.  Our rainy season has been truly rainy.  Don't get me wrong, I love the rain.  I know we need it, but there are times as a Mom of two energetic boys, when you just need ban them from the house.  So, naturally when the sun peeks out briefly you drop everything and get those kids outside!  This usually involves Jeremy going out with them. {thanks honey!}

I have always found it fascinating how much children LOVE bubbles.  It is such a simple concept and yet it never ceases to entertain.

Ladies and Gentlemen...I bring you the bubble boys.

Happy Birthday to me...

Well yesterday was my birthday and I got to thinking...I remember as a child counting down the days until my big day.  I can still remember family and friends asking me, "So how do you feel now that you're a year older?"  I swear I felt like more of a grown up.  Flash forward to now, and although I enjoy the all of the well wishes, I feel like although my age went up another year, It doesn't quite feel like it used to.  I'm always shocked to think that I am approaching my mid-thirties when I still feel like I should be in my twenties.  If this trend continues by the time I'm 50 I will feel like I am twelve!  Let's just hope I don't act like it. Trust me when I say that would be good for no one...

Another thing while on the subject of growing older...Is it just me or does it feel like time goes even faster.  The years are passing so much faster than they used to.  I look back at pictures and think, "I can't believe that was so many years ago, it seems like yesterday."
My third birthday... Funny side note, I still have a German chocolate cake every birthday, 30 years later...

So here I am another year older and I think I have come full circle.  I hear my kids asking about their birthdays when they still have 8 months to go.  They still have the excitement and anticipation for the big day.  I even asked Aaron how it felt when he turned six.  He puffed his little chest out and said he felt six and really good.  I remember that feeling so well.  Theses boys can't wait to grow up.  I just want to zap them at the age they are at.  I guess that is part of life and all I can do is enjoy these years now because they are flying by...

I leave you now with a few more blasts from my past scanned in straight form the old scrapbook...
I had to put this one in because I can't believe how much Ty looks like me.  He totally does that face all the time!
I'm in the middle.

Kindergarten portrait.

aaahhh...the 80's.  gotta love 'em.

Hope y'all enjoyed that.  It was actually really fun to look back on all of the old photographs and not the digital stuff.
